First Aid for Little People
The Health Information Committee plans and coordinates a “First Aid for Little People” program every spring at Olive. The “First Aid for Little People” program is an American Red Cross First Aid Program designed for students in 1st and 2nd grade and is held in the LMC. There are 5 stations that students go through (fire safety, poison control, choking, basic first aid and water safety). Volunteers are a very important part of this program. The time commitment is minimal, only about one hour. Two volunteers are typically needed at each station and present the information to the students. All of the information is very basic and given to the volunteers ahead of time. This is a very fun program and the students take away such valuable information from it. Please consider volunteering your time!

The Owl Way
Promotes good character and kindness at all grade levels. The Owl Way implements monthly service initiatives to promote good character traits such as being kind, responsible, honest, fair and helping others. On occasion, this PTA program partners with other clubs such as the Ecology Club and Student Council, to carry out monthly projects with the help of students, parents and staff. The Owl Way fosters a positive learning environment and breeds a culture of kindness. OMS has a strong tradition of raising global-minded students and is committed to fostering a passion for service learning in tomorrow’s leaders. Please contact olivepta@gmail.com if you are willing and able to help coordinate this committee!

World of Work
The WOW program provides 5th grade students the opportunity to act as employees for a day for local businesses that interest them. The WOW program is supported by many Arlington Heights businesses and utilizes many parent volunteers from our OMS families. This is another committee in need of a chair and at risk of not happening if someone doesn’t step up to take charge. Please consider and contact olivepta@gmail.com if interested.
