One Book, One School

We are excited to announce that the One Book One School program has begun this week. Families are invited to read the book Wishtree together during the months of October and November.

We are very grateful for the support of our membership, because as a result of this generous support, Olive PTA was able to purchase a copy of the book for each family. The books were sent home with the youngest child of each family on Friday, October 12th.

Additionally, a reading schedule and letter explaining the program were tucked inside each book. For more information about the program, please visit the OMS LMC website: https://olivemarystittlmc.weebly.com/one-book-one-school.html.

Our annual Box Top challenge will take place from October 22nd – 26th. Box Tops can be found on items you use everyday from Ziploc bags to boxes of Kleenex and everything in between! Each one is worth 10 cents and they add up quickly! Any money that we collect goes right back to our school! If every child at Olive collected just 2 Box Tops per month for the whole school year, that would add up to over $1200!!

Just for clipping a label off of something that you were going to buy for your house anyway!

  1. Clip
  2. Save
  3. Send to School, in a baggie labeled with your child’s name, during our 2 Box Top Challenge weeks (October & February)…

It’s that easy! Oh and the 2 classrooms (K-2 & 3-5) that collect the most will get to vote on a class prize with their teacher! Sooooo….let’s get clipping! Clipping Box Tops is cool! Let’s earn $ for our school! boxtopsforeducation.com

Library Media Center Volunteers Needed

Do you want to be involved at OMS? Then consider volunteering in the Library Media Center (LMC). It’s a fun way to get involved and doesn’t require too much of your time. Our wonderful volunteers have kicked off an amazing start to the year but we have a few slots remaining.

The available slots are as follows:
Tuesday – 9:00AM-10:30AM
Wednesday – 9:00AM-10:30AM
Thursday – 9:00AM-10:30AM
Friday – 9:00AM-10:30AM or 10:30AM-12:10PM

If you have a 3rd grader, there’s even a possibility that your shift would match your child’s class!
Please note: the current commitment would be for every other week.

If you are interested, please contact Nina Shamoon

OMS PTA Calendar

All PTA events will be posted on the Olive school calendar. We recommend that you subscribe to it from your home computer or cell phone. We will make changes and updates on this calendar as club dates and events are confirmed and let you know when any changes have been made. Please click here for a link to the calendar. It can also be found on the home page of the Olive PTA website.

Special thanks to Deborah Oiler (last year’s Calendar Chair and 1st VP) and Mary Beth Canty (our new Calendar Chair and 1st VP) for setting this up.

Room Reps Needed

We are currently placing Room Rep volunteers with classes and will be notifying parents of their placement via email by mid next week. Please click here to see the list of classrooms that still have open Room Rep positions. We would love to get these open spots filled!
Thanks to the many parents that volunteered to be Room Reps for your children’s classes for this school year.

Interested parties for classrooms in need should email PTA Room Rep Co-Chairs Colleen Bremer and Erin Wiggs by the end of the day Saturday.

In order to volunteer as a Room Rep, you will need to be a PTA member. Room Reps plan and attend the class parties (Halloween & Valentine’s Day) and provide communications to the parents regarding PTA events throughout the year. Don’t miss this wonderful chance to spend time in your child’s classroom!
