We are looking for several people to help check in Halloween Party volunteers over the lunch period prior to the Halloween parade and parties. Please consider volunteering for a shift. Thank you for your help in making the check-in process run smoothly. Please click here to volunteer!
Olive PTA received two awards at the District 37 Illinois PTA Awards Dinner on Monday night. We won the Honorable Mention Award and a membership award. PTA District 37 currently consists of 62 local PTA units in the northwest Chicago suburbs, including all of the District 25 schools.
We won these awards based on the collaboration of all of your volunteer efforts. This included trainings our board and committee chairs attended, membership numbers, and our PTA clubs and events in the 2016/2017 school year. We could not have won this award without the support and commitment of all of the Olive volunteers. Your time and service is so appreciated. Click here to see photos. Thank you for all that you do!

The Nominating Committee needs YOU!
Are you interested in recruiting next year’s Executive Committee? The Nominating Committee is a group of PTA members who find and nominate the following year’s Executive Committee.
The Executive Committee is the elected board that directs all of the PTA committees at our school. These people will be actively recruiting and soliciting potential nominees for the 2018/2019 Executive Committee. You need to be available to meet a few times as a group.
Please email Olive-Mary Stitt PTA if you are interested or have questions. Nominations for the Executive Board will be accepted at a later date.
Thank you for your support.
The PTA sponsored FAMILY BINGO NIGHT is coming up Friday, November 10th from 7:00-8:30pm. This event is a fun-filled night for our OMS families. The kids can sit with their friends and families can get to know each other. Kids can win various prizes and EVERY OMS student will take home at least one prize. Admission is FREE! Please have each child bring a non-perishable food item as a donation to share with those in need in our community. Any questions? Please contact Kristine Spina or Nina Shamoon
Olive-Mary Stitt is using TreeRing to make our yearbooks. Last year we made the switch to TreeRing for two reasons:
- Custom Pages: Every student gets a one-of-a-kind printed copy of the yearbook, containing two free pages that they can customize with personal photos.
- Buy a Book, Plant a Tree: TreeRing plants a tree in our school’s name whenever someone from our school purchases a yearbook. (And here’s a bonus: They print on recycled paper).
Our book this year will be forty-two pages, including the two free custom pages, printed fully in color. The cost is $13.00. Orders placed by September 30 receive a 15% discount. October orders will receive a 10% discount.
In order to buy your book and start your custom pages, visit https://www.treering.com. If you had a TreeRing account last year, you can use the same password to log into your account. Please add any new children that did not attend last year. If you do not have a TreeRing account from last year you will need to create one. You’ll want to have our school passcode handy. That number is 1014636724843184. Please purchase a yearbook for each child so they can each have a book to sign the last week of school.
We’re looking forward to a year full of great memories—and capturing them in the yearbook!
P.S. If you run into any trouble at all while setting up your TreeRing account, they have a great support team. Please contact them at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Each winter, the PTA organizes grade-specific Activity Nights and brings in a great performer to entertain our kids. The 2018 Activity Nights have been confirmed. Please make a note of the following dates:
Kindergarten and 1st Grade: January 19, 2018 @ 7-8pm
2nd and 3rd Grade: February 1, 2018 @ 7-8pm
4th and 5th Grade: February 23, 2018 @7-8pm
Mark your calendars so that your child(ren) can attend these fun, free events.
We are excited to announce that the Olive-Mary Stitt PTA Directory App is now available! If you were a DirectorySpot user last year, then you don’t need to do anything, just log in (same username and password) and you will see the new data. Please make sure you have the latest version of DirectorySpot to see the new features (check the app store for any “updates”).
If you are a NEW user, you have been set up and can download DirectorySpot for free from the App Store (iPhone users) or Google Play (Android users), or you can also access the data from the web.
The OMS PTA used to have a SD25 School Board Rep, someone who would go to each of the SD25 School Board Meetings and then report back to the PTA. We’ve been unable to fill that position for a few years and are trying something new this year by allowing anyone to sign up to attend a single School Board Meeting and report back to the PTA with an email summary of what was discussed.
Please consider signing up for a meeting. This is an easy, low-commitment way to volunteer and help our school’s community stay informed.
Sign up via the Sign Up Genius link here: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0f48a9a923a3f94-20172018
Please join us for our first PTA General meeting. Everyone is welcome. We will be highlighting several of our 2017/2018 fundraisers and programs as well as voting on our budget. Before the meeting we will be having our PTA Fair. We are excited to showcase and promote our various clubs and committees. If you would like to learn more about all of the exciting opportunities your kids will have over the coming school year, please join us. Many committees will have tables set up with information to help you learn about their programs.

Olive PTA promotes good character and kindness with monthly service initiatives. This September, OMS Owls will salute our Community Helpers. Our community is enriched by the caring efforts of many. Next week during recess, your child will have an opportunity to sign thank you cards for these everyday heroes. These special helpers will be honored later this month. Continue to follow the Olive Branch and Twig for more details.
