Box Tops Results Are In!!

The Box Tops have been collected, clipped and counted….Olive-Mary Stitt collected just over 3,200 Box Tops! That’s $320 for our school! Amazing job everyone!

The winning homerooms are Mrs. Vittore’s 1-2 with 329 Box Tops turned in and Mrs. Grimm’s 4-4 with 413 Box Tops turned in!

This school year we have made about $650 for Olive…just by cutting a label off of products that we use everyday…SOOOO EASY!

Please continue clipping and saving, and even recruit your family, friends and neighbors to clip too. We have 8 months til our next challenge so start saving today. I think we can double what we made this year…if anyone can, Olive-Mary Stitt can!

Coins for Charity Water Counted!

The Owl Way is excited to announce that we broke the record for our annual charity water coin collection.

Our grand total was $452.39, much higher than the previous years. What a fantastic way to start 2018!

Caring hearts and outstretched wings ready to help those in need. Your contributions will impact lives greatly. Clean water access means less disease, healthier children and more girls get to go to school instead of collecting water.

Ladies’ Night Out – Nov 30th

Come join other Olive moms at a wine tasting at Vintages Wine Shop! It will be on Nov. 30th from 6-8pm. It will be a great way to socialize and meet new people at Olive. The cost of the event is $20 and it includes: a wine tasting, appetizers and a raffle. PTA Budget Update

When the PTA completes its annual budget in July, it does so knowing that two things are true – predicting the future isn’t always flawless, and no two years are identical. The budget process is pretty simple – the PTA takes budget requests from committee chairs, combines those expenses with operational obligations, and then balances our expected expenses with planned income and fundraising. Any surplus income goes through the excess funds process each year, and how we spend surplus money is voted on in the spring meetings.

This year our fundraising chairs wanted to do something new – to step away from traditional sales based fundraising and toward community building activities. The Executive Committee all agreed these new events – Just Jump and the Trivia Night to be held in the spring – were a welcome exciting change. We were also aware these activities were unknowns.

As we happily noted last week, Just Jump exceeded our expectations. This year’s House Hop was so successful; the hosts welcomed 50 people per house instead of the estimated 30. Because of these successes, the lower than average participation in some of the other ongoing fundraising activities are covered. We have built in flexibility with other planned events, and – more importantly – we are able to cover our expenses as they occur without concern.

We still need to raise an additional $3,700 to meet our budgeted obligations this year. Our fundraising team expects to meet this goal. Which is why when we received an $1,100 check from the school supplies supplier – unexpectedly – the school supplies committee brought up the idea of getting it back into the classrooms right away, this year, so the teachers who were inconvenienced by the school supply company’s delivery delay this fall could benefit from this unexpected money. At the end of the school year, any further budget surplus would go through the excess funds process. Please email ideas for this $1,100 to before December 5; any ideas will be brought to the PTA Executive Committee and teachers for review, the voted on at the January 31 meeting.

JUST JUMP – Thank You!

Dear OMS Families and Community,

Thank you for your support and generous donations to sponsor your children for the PTA’s JUST JUMP fundraising activity at school last week. This new fundraiser was a big success, raising over $6800 for the PTA. The money will be used to fund many of the PTA’s programs, clubs and activities for the students (such as Family Bingo Night next Friday night).

We also want to give a big thank you to our two P.E. teachers, Mrs. Pusateri and Mrs. LaRoe, who made this event successful and fun for all OMS students. The students had fun trying new jumping activities and should be very proud of their hard work.

October Box Top Challenge

The Box Tops have been counted up and the classroom winners are……Mrs. Wilson 4-2 and Ms. Vittore 1-2! They will be able to vote with their teacher on a class reward. We will be receiving a check for our school for over $300, which is great, but let’s try to double that next time!

Now is a great time to start saving for the next challenge in February! Get everyone involved…grandmas, grandpas, aunts, uncles, coworkers, even neighbors!

Box Tops October Challenge: Monday, October 16th – Friday, October 20th

It’s finally starting to feel like fall so that means its time for our October Box Top Challenge! Let’s take a break from raking leaves so we can rake in the cash for Olive Mary-Stitt!

Please send in all of the Box Tops that you have been clipping and saving, anytime next week. At the end of the week, each classroom’s Box Tops will be counted and the top 2 classrooms will get to pick a class prize (PJ day, extra recess, etc.)

Introducing JUST JUMP Fundraiser!

The OMS PTA is launching a new fundraiser this year called JUST JUMP which will engage all OMS students and their families. Students will be jumping for 10 minutes during P.E. class during the week of October 23-27. In order to support the meaningful activities the PTA sponsors each year, such as The Owl Way, Bingo Night, Activity Nights and many more, we are asking family members to sponsor their children with a monetary donation. All OMS students will have the opportunity to participate in JUST JUMP and sponsorship is optional.

Every OMS student will be coming home today with a JUST JUMP bag which includes the following:

1) JUST JUMP t-shirt (to be worn on the day your child jumps),
2) informational letter and
3) sponsorship form.

Yearbook – Now Available to Order

Olive-Mary Stitt is using TreeRing to make our yearbooks. Last year we made the switch to TreeRing for two reasons:

  • Custom Pages: Every student gets a one-of-a-kind printed copy of the yearbook, containing two free pages that they can customize with personal photos.
  • Buy a Book, Plant a Tree: TreeRing plants a tree in our school’s name whenever someone from our school purchases a yearbook. (And here’s a bonus: They print on recycled paper).

Our book this year will be forty-two pages, including the two free custom pages, printed fully in color. The cost is $13.00. Orders placed by September 30 receive a 15% discount.  October orders will receive a 10% discount.

Please add any new children that did not attend last year. If you do not have a TreeRing account from last year you will need to create one. You’ll want to have our school passcode handy. House Hop 6th Annual Progressive Dinner

If you have not attended before, we start by having you meet us at the school for house assignments, then off to your first house at 7:00 to enjoy and at 9:00 you travel to your second house. Just Move It Challenge

The Arlington Heights Council of PTAs and the ABC/25 Foundation invite everyone to join in the 5K Run/Walk and/or 1 mile Run/Walk on Saturday, April 11 at South Middle School. Thanks to the past support of our community and local businesses last year, we were able to raise $23,000 that will benefit the teachers and students of District 25. We had almost 1000 participants in attendance representing 9 schools in which over 500 of the runners were students. All proceeds will go to the Scholarship and Grant Fund, benefiting the education of School District 25 students. Mary Stitt 90th Birthday Celebration

Please be our guest and join us to celebrate Mary Stitt’s 90th birthday. Free Open Skate Night at Orbit Roller Rink in Palatine, Illinois on Thursday, April 9th from 6:30 – 9:00pm. This event is a birthday celebration and fundraiser to benefit Rotary’s Polio Foundation. Cash and check donations will be accepted at the door. Entry to the rink is free and skate rental is also free for the first 100 guests.
